K5SLD Repeaters The Arlington ARC currently maintains three repeaters: 147.140 MHz 224.800 MHz 444.200 MHz Repeater CommitteeThe Repeater Committee is the only permanent committee of the Arlington Amateur Radio Club. It is charged with the support, building and maintenance of the Club's repeater hardware. The Repeater Committee is a minimum of three members but also receives outside help and assistance from other individuals and groups that support, build and maintain repeaters across the State of Texas. 147.140 MHz Repeater, 110.9 toneThe 147.140 repeater is a GE MASTR II mobile radio converted to repeater service. It has a GE on-board pre-amp on the receiver and a Crystal Filter. A WACOM duplexer and Andrew 1/2" feedline are also used. A Decibel Products DB-224 is used for the antenna. The transmit power is approximately 30 watts from the duplexer. The controller is an SCOM 7K with phone patch capability. The 7K also controls the 220 radio and allows for the two systems to be linked.
224.800 MHz Repeater, 110.9 toneThe 224.800 repeater is a Midland 13-509 mobile radio converted to repeater service. A WACOM duplexer and Andrew 7/8" feedline are used. A Decibel Products DB-244 is used for the antenna. The transmit power is approximately 12 watts from the duplexer. This radio is using the same SCOM 7K controller at the 147.14 repeater. This allows the two radios to be easily linked together. The standard configuration is for the two radios to be linked.
444.200 MHz Repeater, 100.0 tone, IRLP LinkedThe 444.200 repeater is a GE MASTR EXEC II mobile radio converted to repeater service. A Phelps-Dodge duplexer and Andrew 7/8" feedline are also used. A Decibel Products DB-420 is used for the antenna. The transmit power is approximately 20 watts from the duplexer. The controller is an SCOM MRC-100 with phone patch capability. This radio also has a link radio for IRLP connectivity. The link radio is a GE Phoenix mobile radio with a Decibel Products DB-201 antenna. The donor site also has a GE Phoenix radio for talking to the repeater site.
Phone PatchThe Club authorized a phone patch for the 147.140 and 444.200 repeaters. The phone line is shared between the two radios and can only be used by one radio at a time. Also, the phone line is an Arlington local only number.
IRLPIn 2004 the AARC funded and installed it's Internet Radio Linking Project on the 444.200 repeater node 3412 K5SLD Arlington The IRLP link is available to members 24/7/365 and is an excellent way to use repeaters to communicate across the country and around the world with as little as a low powered hand held radio.
